Description
The Ambistik ambient conditions module is a simple USB based device for the measurement of ambient conditions, temperature, barometric pressure and humidity. The measurement of these values is continuously fed back to the powerful BLUE CHERRY® software suite to allow the software to continually calculate the correction for BTPS (Body Temperature pressure Saturated).
In essence, this procedure standardises lung function measurements, with body temperature being at a constant 37°C exhaled air would cool down thus would experience a decrease in measured volume. With as little as 2°C difference in temperature the measurement could be as much as 1% deviation in the measured result. Together with the influences brought about by temperature measurements may be affected by air pressure and humidity. Air pressure at altitude will differ greatly from that at sea level this would have a dramatic effect on measured values if they were not corrected for these changes. As well as the direct differences caused by Air pressure there are also indirect differences such as the reduction in Oxygen concentration at altitude.
The Ambistik makes a continuous measurement of the ambient conditions and feeds this information directly back to the BLUE CHERRY® software. BLUE CHERRY® stores the absolute measured values and corrects automatically for the ambient conditions, continuously providing corrected measurement data.
